Minooka Bible Church Food Pantry

The Minooka Bible Church Food Pantry purposes to help low income families by providing nonperishable food items, and sometimes perishable food items on a regular basis.

MBC obtains these food items through a free USDA commodities food distribution program from the Illinois Department of Human Services Emergency food program, administered by Northern Illinois Food Bank.

These Commodities are also supplemented with Purchased food items, from Northern Illinois Food Bank, as well as with donated nonperishable items given by MBC members and the surrounding community.

On the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, we prepare boxes of food to be given out during the open hours of the food pantry.

The location and distribution area for this food is in the North entry area of the church, off of the circle driveway entrance.

The only requirements for being able to receive food through the MBC Food pantry, are as follows.

1. Fill out a form giving your name, address, phone number, and number in household.

2. Sign an additional form each visit indicating for the USDA commodities that your income falls within their guidelines.

The MBC food pantry team meets on the Tuesday afternoon before the first and third Wednesdays, to do an initial setup of tables and banana boxes, and partially fill the boxes with nonperishable food. The following Wednesday at 12:15 PM we meet again to finish filling the boxes and to begin the distribution.

On the 4th Wednesday at 1:00 PM, a crew from the food pantry team  meets to unload our once a month shipment  of food from Northern Illinois Food Bank. This takes about 1-1/2 hours to unload and restock the food pantry storage room.
